ABOUT US

Rooted and Built was started by Co-founders David and Mellisa Francke. It was birthed from a deep desire to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their various gift and talents. More so, their hearts are for people who need discipleship and mentorship in order to grow deep roots in God’s Word for Kingdom Impact.

Background

David and Mellisa who are both from Cape Town South Africa, met each other in 2010. After a period of intentional dating, they tied the knot in 2016. Today they have two precious gifts, Joel and Leah-Rose.

From a young age David has always been serving in the Church in some or other capacity. In addition he has 15 years experience as a Systems Engineer, working within the IT Infrastructure space across various sectors. More recently David has been experiencing a great burden to go after the lost and have been intentional with journeying with groups of individuals in the homeless community. Serving God’s people in this way illuminated for him a passion to break down the Word of God as well as take up development opportunities where the blend of faith and profession have merged.

Growing up, Mellisa experienced what it is was like growing up on the Cape Flats in South Africa, having to navigate the contextual challenges, including gang violence, low infrastructure and limited access to opportunities. Mellisa served for many years in the Church and believe that the supports and structures provided by the Church community is the foundational building blocks on which she continues to grow. Her passion to serve her community including young women and adolescents is evident in her vocational work as an Occupational Therapist and in her everyday life.
